Yes, if you want it to just be yoursite.com/index.php, you will need to edit the settings to match that, and then move the files to the htdocs folder.

so now when i change my host, the folder "forum" that contains my forum files needs to be downloaded from my current host to my computer and uploaded to another host ? or do i need to do it some other way ?

Pretty much, yeah. When you change hosts you also need a database backup too, though.

but everything that i "create" on my free host and all threads that are made are going to be transferred to new host without loosing data ?

and how do i make this database backup (or is it maybe explained somewhere already?)

This is a really good guide! But I can't follow this because of the updated versions and the missing screenshots. Can anyone make an updated guide or a guide similar to this one?

I don't think you REALLY need pictures to know how to do it. And besides, there are a bunch of videos on youtube. You can even read the mybb guide at the wiki.
