Hey guys,

I've recently thought of something and decided to post it here on MYBB to get some community input. The purpose of this is to either shoot up or down the idea and to build upon it. I think it also brings about intelligent discussing and idea sparking...

Anyway, we see a lot of websites where we can find freelancers and request jobs to be done in exchange for pay. Sites like zerply or guru which allows you to window shop and find freelancers or get freelancers to respond to a project you are working on.

These websites usually already have great profiling systems and porfolio systems that allow a talented designer, developer, writer (etc.) to advertise their experience and skills...I see no market in that business as per say...

However, I think there is too little emphasis on 'team building'. I work on a huge development project myself and we are stuck with a problem I'm sure many others have too. We have a developer but we could do with an additional designer that fits well with the team. Often developers are great developers, but cannot design, and designers can design but can't make back end code etc.

Wouldn't a website that allowed designers to connect with developers and create their own 'project teams' be in hand here? Wouldn't it be a good idea if within the profile of a developer you could see 'designers I've worked with' or vice-versa? In summary, keeping track of other 'specialists' you've worked with so that they could potentially be picked to work with you again. People with different expertise could team up and form teams. Teamwork is essential to any big project and maybe sites like zerply and guru are disregarding that important factor?

An interesting idea would be to allow for the rating of freelancers by various categories such as:

Work Quality
Dedication
Project Management Skills

for example, and when different people formed a team, the team would have the average rating of all of these specialists put together. Developers could recommed designers and vice-versa...

Is this going anywhere? Add to it, or shoot it down!

EDIT: Another additional feature could be creating a team opening of some sort. If you have a team and your designer left, you could advertise the position and have other poeple apply to join the spot on your team...

In summary, allow employers to hire teams that work well together rather than individuals. (Well allow them to hire teams or individual members if they prefer) Allow Talented people to mix and match to form the best possible 'group offering'.

Surely all of this must have been implemented on the web somewhere!
There is a website like this. Where people will post ideas and say they need 2 designers and 1 programmer. Or, a programmer asking for designer(or just offering his services). I forget the name of it though. I do remember it having a mac looking style though.
