I'm using MariaDB on my VPS and it seems to be shutting down at random intervals. I have looked at my logs (which say the following):

Version: '5.2.10-MariaDB-mariadb107' socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' port: 3306 (MariaDB - http://mariadb.com/)

120103 15:16:36 [Note] Event Scheduler: Loaded 0 events
120103 15:16:36 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld: ready for connections.
Version: '5.2.10-MariaDB-mariadb107' socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' port: 3306 (MariaDB - http://mariadb.com/)

As you can see, mysqld seems to be shutting down at intervals for some reason that I don't understand. If anybody has any idea what's wrong with my setup, please feel free to shed some light on the issue?
whats in the root cron?
There's nothing there apart from a task to rotate my nginx and php logs, a task to watch for any access to /tmp or /var/tmp, a task called makewhatis.cron and mlocate.cron.
