Not hard to do just go in to templates choose the theme ur using click exspand temp. And go to index click full edit find ur chat copy then delete it then push back go to header/footer and edit one of them. Past the chatbox at the bottom and save there u go. YaY

They detract from the point of a forum. To post. Posting should be te means of communication on a forum.
One thing, once you start thinking of a shoutbox / chatbox on your forum, you can say bye bye to your board's activity. #Fact

Put it on a template that is on every page. Ie Header or footer.
Also, while it does remove posts from the forum, it can ask as a trashing forum, where it's just fun talk that you likely don't want people to see for long.
Very few forums can get away with a chat box.
Your forum needs to be thriving already with high traffic, giving people reasons to post.
Otherwise in low forums, majority users will see little point to post, when they know they'll get faster responses via the chat box.
