Well, I am just curious about the directory where my attachments are saved. Is it uploads/attachments? Can I get access to my attachments anywhere else rather than the thread? Maybe FTP?
Finally, can a user do anything to directly reach an attachment they're not authorized to view by trying to somehow gain access to the directory where attachments are saved?

all attachments go to uploads folder.......
no i dnt think that user can directly access this folder.

I think you can get to them actually... just go to ./uploads/attachments and you should have a list of them.
And what is a user tries that from his/her browser.
There is no directory called uploads/attachments anyway.
I don't think so coz MyBB does not creates any folder named attachments.
It do creates a folder but i dnt know how the naming algorithm works for this.
I just saw that
Just go to uploads, and then /the date the files were uploaded.
For example, the 20th of August 2008 is 200808... then you can see a list of attachments uploaded on that day.

yes exactly what i was saying.....
it creates a folder having name like "200809"
an what i can under stand from the name is it creates a folder year and month wise....
as if you see the name of folder i mentioned above "200809"
2008=year
09=month
i dnt know exactly but this could be like this

well i think
2008 is for year and
08 is for month
coz i just attach a file and it created a folder and named it "200809"
and today is not the 20th of sep 2008
Ohh yeah, it's each month... first 4 is the year, last 2 is the month. Clever, quite a qood system.
