  Collaborative Editing?
Posted by: Gordon - 2010-09-03, 04:46 PM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (1)

Anyone have any strategies for allowing groups of users to collaboratively create and edit each others replies and threads?

I need create collaborative group work for my students, and would like to allow the groups to work on individual threads.

So, I assign students to groups and when any one in the group starts at thread, anyone else in that group can edit the initial post, and any of the replies.

I would also want to lock other groups from replying to a thread that a group had started.

Any ideas on how that can be done, or would it require modifications?

Thanks for any ideas,
Gordon

  can't start installation
Posted by: Fallen-Angel - 2010-09-03, 04:07 PM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (3)

Hello everyone, I tried to install the version of MyBB on my 1&1 provider webspace, (forum.webcom-one.com) but I can't, because this error appears:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/2/d332234683/htdocs/en_forum/inc/class_core.php on line 18

This is the second board that I setup, but the first one runs pretty good and I had no problems: forum.webcom-one.de

Do I just go to forum.webcom-one.com/install and this message above appears...

Please help on how to fix that. It says that for some other things too.

Setting up a dev site. How do you do it?
Posted by: Techmonkey - 2010-09-03, 10:55 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (9)

I have my main site setup and working.

I dont want to work on things on the live site, instead I wish to setup a dev copy and work on that, then when all is fine, merge the two.

How do you do this effectively? How do you track the changes to the database on the dev so you can add them to the live site.

Also how do you make it so you dont have to change all the environment variables such as site URL each time?

Urgent issue - Backup won't work
Posted by: Riad C. - 2010-09-03, 10:05 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - Replies (4)

I have an urgent issue.

My Database Backup section won't load in Admin CP. Everything else is working, when I click it, it just doesn't load.

It's always worked before, now, it just says:

"Stopped" on the bottom left of my page, instead of "Done".

Help please.

I want to make it that when you view threads, that the postbit is vertical.

As in, you have posts, registration date etc, all on the left hand.

<----- [RIGHT THERE]

How can I do that?

Does this require customization of theme files?
Posted by: securobo - 2010-09-03, 07:31 AM - Forum: 1.6 General Support - No Replies

If I want to change the MyBB logo (top left image on index page) to a custom image for my website, do I have to alter html/xhtml, .css and etc. files? Or is there an option to use a custom image.

I found it in the theme settings. I am new, so it takes a little getting used to. I love it so far.
