Prevent Spammers From Registering

Register Time

• This plugin is made to block spambots such as XRumer from registering on your board. Spambots generally finish the registration form within five seconds, or even less. A human cannot possibly complete the form in that time. This plugin measures the time between when the form is loaded and when the form is submitted. If the time is less than the setting in the ACP (by default 15 seconds) an error is thrown and registration does not take place.

• In short, Spamalyser tries to detect spam posts (not spam registrations) through a number of means and can perform some actions on detected spam.

• This plugin stops users joining your forums in order to just leave an link to there website in there profile they have to get an set amount off posts first before they can even think about adding an link in there profile. made this plugin after getting an lot off bots joining my site in order two do this so i thought i would make this plugin and share it with the rest off you.

Why no love for Spamalyser? I use it and find it to help rather a lot.

Also, you should mention Solidus' post regarding CSF which shows how to implement spamhaus and other IP blocks against spammer.

I was a user of http://www.stopforumspam.com website for months to identify spammers before finding and installing the plugin. It absolutely works great! My forum would get almost 30 spam accounts a day and I'd have to shut down registration as part of cleanup. After installing this plugin I only had 1 spammer account created in 2 weeks and after checking stopforumspam.com deleted it before spam was posted.
