Hello
I want to add a subscription option to newthread page.
So, any member can select a radio button (like email notification radio button) and he/she can subscribe his/her new thread instantly.

How can I do this?

But this already exists... it is the email notification this subscribe you to the thread.

You are right, but I don't want it to send email to members when there is a new reply.

But apparently it's too much to do for the MyBB Team and they think it's useless. I don't know how many of these threads will convince them otherwise. It's something vBulletin has had forever and it's really useful.

Instead of trying to blame us, why don't you make a plugin that does this? It's not like we have infinite time in the world, and reasons like 'vB has it' or 'IPB has it' are useless. If we are going to implement features we need a lot of people to want it and we need to put it in a priority list. Right now we are working hard on the new ACP and lots of other new features for 1.4.

Personally Tiktiki, between me and you, that was quite rude, as for being a staff member.
You could have said it nicer, and more professional like "We currently do not have the time, as we are working on the new ACP for 1.4, and plus we need more people to want this done, before we place it in our high priority list..."

Just a thought.

I'm not quite sure what you want.

Do you want a checkbox for the thread to be added to the user's favourite threads when posting?

I Agree with you, but in other hand if you or me, in Tikitiki's place. I'm sure will do the same sometimes.
try to think if you trying to work up with huge project, and someone come to ask for little thing maybe he can do it hemsalf??? that will make you nervous

Do you mean you want subscription for view threads page forumdisplay.php?

You want that checkbox inside the forumdisplay.php page? You can easily do that yourself if you really want to.

I am confused and I read your request 5 times. Your image seems to point to exactly the feature you are asking for.

I'm sure you're aware that if you choose 'No Email Notification' in vB, you will get a nice list of threads you're subscribed to on the front page of your Control Panel. It's very easy to manage what threads you've posted in, and see if anyone's replied to them.

For me, and I'd assume other members, email is not a viable option when you post a lot. It just gets spammy. Furthermore, I own a board with over 85,000 posts and if I wanted to subscribe to a spammy forum to moderate it, the emails would flood me. It's just a feature that would be extremely useful to MyBB.

And Tikitiki, I don't blame you at all. It's just that I've seen so many people post threads like this, just to get closed by staff members who say they don't have time to add this. I've been advocating it since MyBB 1 RC 4, and it has consistently been shrugged off. I'd just like it to be looked at a little more serious.

Furthermore, I respect all the time and effort the MyBB team puts into this script. After using MyBB, there's nothing else I would use over it. SMF and phpBB just can't compare to what's been created here. I can imagine the time that goes into, and I'm not trying to push you harder than it already appears that you're working. I'd just ask that you look at this feature, as in my opinion, it's highly useful. Especially to Moderators and Admins if you can subscribe to complete forums.
