If you have photoshop, try to delete the background with magic eraser, and then erase the edges with a soft brush 20px eraser, that should do the trick.

Tried that, but it still gave a nasty outcome on dark backgrounds.

What do you exactly want? I can give it a shot.

I used the magic eraser like Kikkerkont said and worked perfectly. Then, I didn't use the softbrush 20px eraser thing. It looked just good like that, but rather pixelated, so I added a stroke to make it blend in perfectly and not look pixelated. Tested it on white, black, blue, red, and a couple other backgrounds.
