moving my forum on the server
I created a forum in the following subdomain (example): debates.mysite.com

A few postings have already taken place, about a weeks worth of posts, which I would not want to lose. How would I be able to rename my site as I've come to realize that I don't want the forum to be a "debates" forum.

I would like to move it to something like: community.mysite.com

What would I need to do in my cPanel? Could I retain my db name and just create a new subdomain?

If anyone has done this and can share an easy and painless way to do this, it would be awesome.

Thank you!

RE: moving my forum on the server
1st create new subdomain with the name community
2nd move all the files from your old subdomain to your new subdomain
3rd go to the url community.mysite.com/admin and login
the under the general configuration click on change. (from memory)
thene edit your forum url, and cookies domain, and cookies path..

RE: moving my forum on the server
I did this and it seems to work, although when I login as a user, it shows like its logged me in (redirecting message box pops up) but when it does finish, I'm back at the home page and its asking me to login again, as if I never did it.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks!

Well i have mybb 1.4 and i am moving it from /forum to root.
K I got it working. To login again all you need to do is clear your cookies. Also, i had to edit the cookie settings after i moved it manually from settings.php ah... I love MyBB
