how to hide a section does anyone know?
Just untick "Forum is Active?" in the forum's settings.
If you want to just hide a forum on the Index but keep its functionality you could try XThreads - its a big plugin to do such a small thing though.
Do you mean give access to a forum to only certain members? If so, all you need to do is change the permissions of the desired forums by going to:
"Forums & Posts" > "Forum Management" > "Options" > "Permissions"
just to hide the section so others cannot see it only specific groups

i have did that but they can still see it but they cant enter
