The .htaccess file that was included with the mybb somehow causes my 301 redirection from the non-www to the www version of the forum not to work. If I remove the file, the redirection works properly. Is this file needed? Are there certain parts that I should keep in it? Everything seems to work ok without it.

yea its a very important files helps 2 fix small error. N keeps the board in place.

Any idea what in that file is causing my 301 redirection to not work? I have not modified the .htaccess file in any way, and it is allowing my site to be accessed both with and without the www.

If I delete the file, everything redirects to the www version of the website like it is supposed to do.

I'm on a litespeed server if that makes any difference.

well if you want to delete it delete it if its causing an issue but other than that just keep another copy in case you need it again.

first off you have duplicated the google seo rewrites and the gzip/deflate code

second you dont have any redirect/rewrite code for non-www to the www in there

I have the redirect code in my root folder, and it has been redirecting everything in my domain. The forum is installed in the /community directory. I tried adding the redirect code to the mybb .htaccess file and it didn't make any difference, so I assume something in that file is causing it to not work for some reason.

I haven't noticed any problems from deleting the .htaccess file, but I just don't want there to be any security issues or anything. I don't know a whole lot about this stuff... Thanks for the help.

I solved it by deleting the .htaccess from the forum root and added it to the admin folder of the mybb
