^ you will have almost everything as it was in 1.6.3 version - except some templates need
modification . As a precaution you can keep a backup copy of ./inc/settings.php file..

No, it doesn't remove all of it. The upgrade will take care of it. It doesn't delete your theme, it will stay there. Smile.

It wouldn't be much of an upgrade if it erased your data. It's an upgrade, thus it upgrades it, and keeps what you already had, in the same way that when you upgrade the software on your computer, you don't have to install all your programs again.
