Full Version: Deleted Archive Threads are Causing Soft 404s

Threads that I've deleted that are still in Google (the search engine - not the plugin) are causing soft 404s. Google doesn't like these and prefers a hard 404 response code. Any way to do this?
Google SEO plugin does 404 error code for all sorts of error messages. You don't have to enable any of its other features if you don't want them.

I meant that the search engine, Google.com, it doesn't have to do with the plugin.
Google will remove the entries eventually if *your* webserver returns 404 code for them, and that's what the plugin does. Actually, Archive mode already returns 404 by itself, at least in MyBB 1.6. Only the full version gives 200 OK for missing threads.

As long as 404 error code is returned you just have to wait for Google to both revisit the page and kick it out of its index. This can take some time which is why you should provide a useful error page for 404 errors (something also done by the Google SEO Plugin).
