Hello there, I have a problem with mybb forum http://forum.pinguyos.com
MyBB version 1.6.4

The "new post" icons stays active after I have read all the posts in a thread.

I have seen this problem posted a few times but none of the solutions work. Including setting Read Threads in Database (Days) higher then 0 and cleaning out my cookies.

Viewing the forum as a guest everything works. But all logged in users it doesn't.

Whats a little bit odd is you can click on the icon "click to mark this forum as read" as a guest it works but doesn't once you are logged in. The only way to clear the icons is to use the "Mark All Forums Read"

Everything seems to work fine if you are not logged in.

If you need an account use the user name Test and password as password. All lower case.

Really could do with getting this fixed. I am pretty tempted with doing a fresh install.

But its going to be so much work to get it back to how it is now, and as I haven't done a full database backup to that forum only copied the tables for posts, users and forum I don't know what problems I could face. I really just want to get this fixed.

The problem started after removing a few un-needed plugins. And yes one of them was jSnippets For MyBB. I tried reinstalling but it has stopped working. normally removing everything it added to the template once uninstalled then re-installing makes it work. Thats not happening anymore.

I have even tried to run the upgrader again to see if that will fix it.

Also before anyone says it could be a java script causing the problem. I have tried Disabling All Plugins (NO_PLUGINS at the top of init.php) and using the default theme. It still doesn't work.

Gave it a go but didn't fix the problem.

Going to mark this as solved but only because I ended up reinstalling the whole forum. I now know a lot about MyBB database tables.

Anyway thanks lukasamd for the tip about forums lightbulb indicators. I have always had this problem but just accepted that it was part of using MyBB. Your little tip works great. I can now setup as many sub forums as I like knowing that the index page won't stay showing that there is unread threads.

I have never really liked having a busy index page with your tip I don't have to. So if anything having this problem and having to reinstall has at least fixed an ongoing issue I have had with MyBB.

Now I think I will just stick to 1.6.4 until 2.0 comes out.
