I have a sub-forum where I need the registered users (or all groups beside the admins/staff) limited to only viewing the thread except for the poster who made the thread.

Is this possible?

Looks similar to this plugin here: http://www.mybbcentral.com/thread-5214.html

Maybe I will give it a go for a plugin. That is, if you want a thread by thread basis.

In the ACP, go to the forum you want to have this.

Click the permissions tab.

For Regestered users, click "Set Custom Permissions"

Check "Can only view own threads?"
