Hello everyone,

on my new MyBB board I have a special area for those 18 or older only. It is open to all registered users however users are presented with a disclaimer upon entering.

Two questions:

- is there anyway for me to make it automatically only allow those who register with an 18+ birthday?

- secondly, and most importantly, can someone please tell me how I can hide the new posts from that forum? This is a subforum of a main forum. (Category -> Forum -> Forum I am talking about). So when someone posts in it, that new thread is shown in the Forum slot. I want to have it setup so that new threads aren't shown there.

Thanks!

MyBB doesn't support forums offering pornography. I assume thats what you mean by "18+".
Sorry I should have been more clear. It isn't a porno forum lol. It is just an area to talk about sensitive issues that wouldn't be appropriate for a younger audience.
This could be helpful not just for "adult" forums, but forums that are not for 13- kids for example.

I have been looking for something like this for this reason.

Sorry for hijacking btw.
Honestly, the only way to insure users are 18+ is for them to submit a picture of their driver's license/state ID and you add them to a usergroup with permissions to view the forum.

The topic of proper age restriction has been beaten like a dead horse for a couple years, and the best solution is to just let the user know that 18+ content is beyond and let them decide if they want to view it.
Makes sense.

Any ideas on my second issue? To hide the new posts from that sub forum from showing up in the forum it is within?

You set the permissions for that subforum to prevent a certain group you do not want see them.

Actually, I don't want anyone to see them. I just want them to see the link to the subforum. I don't want new thread notifications from that subforum visible in the main forum display. Impossible I guess then?

In my forum.I created private forums that are invisible to the public and regular members.

I created a "Private" forum as a group and assigned selected members to that group. That is done through their own membership account.

Then I added a password protection on it.Only selected members who are on the list can see it.The rest of the forum and guests can not see the existence of the forum at all.

I never tried the subforum part because it make more sense to hide an entire forum section.Than a piece within it.That way you can have all private forums under one CATEGORY.
