I just wanted to say that I like MyBB because of how the theme editor is built in the ACP, and i'm hoping that it will be there to stay in MyBB 2.0. Smile

I honestly doubt this will happen. Because the templates are no longer going to be in the database. While it's possible to still have them there on many servers it will mean they need to be writable.

I believe that wouldn't be a problem. My Advanced WYSIWYG Editor plugin has all the CSS files for the editor themes as files on the server and it's using the same inline editor as MyBB. Smile

The doubt the current editors will go anywhere; regardless of template location (which, by the way, should be on the disk and not in the database) it's trivial to grab them and show them in a textarea.
