At least 36 people have been killed, including members of a hockey team after a YAK-42 passenger plane crashed near the central Russia city of Yaroslavl.
The Russian jet crashed immediately after takeoff in western Russia, one person has survived the crash with grave injuries, the Associated Press reported.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said the plane was carrying the Lokomotiv ice hockey team from Yaroslavl.
Several of the victims were foreign players for the club.
The team was heading to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where it was to play against Dinamo Minsk in the opening game of the season of the Continental Hockey League on Thursday.
The Yaroslavl HC Lokomotiv team was the Russian Champions in 1997, 2002 and 2003.
Russia's Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation into the incident.
The Interstate Aviation Committee, a regional regulating body, has launched its own investigation into the cause of the crash.
