a cool suggestion for unregistered users -

when an unregged fella reads a certain thread, then the
pic buttons of 'new thread' , 'new post' will look like they are grey and
disabled like they can't be clicked (familiar with windows...)
[also will act as simple pictures, none-hyper-linked something]
could be nice ;-)

Displaying them faded out is an interesting idea - however they'd still need to be clickable.

One of the complaints I have had recently is that when buttons like that aren't show to a user they're left pondering what to do - they feel lost because they don't know where the new reply or new thread buttons are and if they weren't clickable it'd be even more confusing.

The other reason is that when guest posting is enabled, users can login when they post directly from the posting page. Alternatively if it is not enabled, they can login from the "no permission" page or receive information on why they can't post.

ahh i see .. however i trust you Chris (or any other developer / admin)
o find out a way to prevent guests from beoing confusing and to somehow make the above possible !
