I've been searching this problem for many hours and have given up.

I've referenced the Installer page and the instructions are quite clear and easy to understand as stated below.

"The installer is found in the "install" directory within the MyBB folder. For example, if your forum is located at: http://www.example.com/forum/ , you will find your installer http://www.example.com/forum/install/. If you are unable to find the installer, please recheck that you have uploaded your files in the correct location (consult your web host to check)."

Using Smart FTP 3.0, I go to the /install directory as instructed and I don't see an 'installer'.

So my question - What does the installer look like, what is it named, and how do I execute it to get to the welcome screen?

I've install MYBB on two servers with the same results or at least the same problem - I can find the /install directory but can't seem to find the installer. Help please.

You can run the installer by accessing the install folder in your web browser.

As stated in the Wiki, if your forum is located at http://example.com/forum/, you will find the installer in http://example.com/forum/install/. Or if your forum is located at http://example.com/, you will find the installer in http://example.com/install/.

I get it now. Did not make the web browser connection even though it clearly says http://etc etc
