Hi

I have a real problem with spammers registering.

I have 25 genuine members and get around 30 new members a day who are spammers.
I don't want to ban them as they show up on the member count.

Would it be possible to have both e-mail activation and admin approval of new registrations?

And/Or banned members not showing on the members count.

Options for automatic banning of IP and email address would be cool too.

This is a major daily time wasting bore.

if you can search for spam prevention methods , you can find a good number of suggestions ... eg.1 , eg.2 ...

A better way is to install akismet....yeah, it's available for mybb too XD

The forum is for a small Spanish village, I can take an educated guess at which potential members are genuine.

That's the way I have two forums set up. They are required to do the email verification, and I ban the popular spammer domains like gmail, hotmail, etc... AND, I limit it to admin activation. I still have to go into the 'Awaiting Activation' list (custom) on a regular basis and delete these schmucks.
