Is it possible to setup a myBB forum that does not require posters to register?

Instead of registration, a Captcha would validate each posting to prevent bot spam?

If myBB cannot be configured this way, do you know of any other forum software that can be so configured?

Yes, you can do this. Just enable posting for the guest group under:

Admin CP > Users & Groups > Groups > Guests
