Hi all, since mybb portal is not very flexible and there is no one doing another portal. Yes I know there is proportal but the developer is not supporting it anymore and someone is taking over the project but when ? is another thing for me.

I am thinking of using wordpress for frontpage. What I need in the wordpress sidebar is the following and not sure it can be done.

Sidebar
login/register
latest thread (I know using some rss or something)
latest post (I think there is a plugin for that)
latest member
site stats
categories (from forum?)
latest download(using xthread, fetching from this id only)

Main content
Will be doing reviews and news. Should I create it from wordpress post or forum? and fetch them from?
I will be using wpaudio for sound demo. any ideas?

IMO you're better off doing something like:

http://gamingbay.org - forum
http://gamingbay.org/blog/ - blog

All you have to do is add the same headers and everything to your WP theme so it matches your forum's.

The bad thing about wordpress is that it publishes averyhing to your forum, like duplicating threads.

And you need to edit it to stop that.

For latest threads there is a file Solidous shared and I'm using it for my non-wordpress php site.

Also, using xThreads you can archieve a complete blog-like system.
