can someone tell me what code to use in order to send the browser back a page from it's current url ?

Be aware that a back button won't work on a page that's been changed by AJAX. It'll take the user back to the previous page, not the previous state of the current page. It takes a lot of code to make a back button that works on AJAX-updated pages.
