I want to know how to add threads and posts to portal.

ACP > Configurations > Portal Settings > and Add forum id in "Forum ID to pull announcements from" option field.

Or if you want to add Latest Threads and or Posts, then you'll need any plugin.

It's better that you edit the portal template itself, it's much easier than you think.
