My users tell me that they've had a lot of problems with convoluted sign up screens, and I am wondering if there is a way to streamline the process and move some stuff that could be easily configurable to user options like time/location and stuff like that.
Like for example: we don't care about referrers. We screen all of our users. Account preferences should be user configurable in the user control panel (and thusly unnecessary on signup in our eyes - people most leave default on). Time zones can be changed. Language settings is always English by default and really unless we are multilanguage (we aren't) it's really unnecessary to include it.
So that way, the streamline process should be simpler. Can this be done?
