The prices of VPS's these days it doesn't matter. You can get a decent one for the same price as a decent shared host a year. I rent mine for 50/Y right now. I know you can rent dedis for that price some places aswell.

I'm only using a shared hosting in my forum running..

150 to 200 users online at a time.
30 % members / 70 % Guest..


1gb to 1.5gb bandwidth usages a day
30 to 40GB / Month
