I am planning on designing a blog and coding it etc.. But I want to implement some Jquery for instance social icons that fade from a greyscale to a color version. Kind of like http://themes.wpscientist.com/lightspeed/

Is this possible at all if so is there any snippits/tutorials someone can point me to or recommend?

Also how much is JQuery used on sites and is it compatible with all browsers?

You could use hover CSS, like make two sets of them in photoshop, one in grey scale and second on RGB, and keep them normally as grey and use .hover and make the RGB image show up. Could be much easier than jqeury. However jquery has its own class.

Yeh I want it to fade in though, I already know about the CSS way for .hover but thanks.

Or create a CSS Sprite, but the above is probably easiest

Never used sprites, are they were you have more than 1 image on a image?

Yer, it is quite annoying to get working, but once they are they are SEO friendly and work a treat
