on server: field, people usually keeps localhost (by default its localhost), then change it to: ipaddressofserver:portnumber format, for eg, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3306 and try then.
When it asks you if you want to use MySQL or SQLite, select MySQL and enter the database information.
sorry i did already but it failed to install and can even recognize the database/ and saying the connection is failed.
Then you've entered the database information incorrectly. Are you sure the MySQL server allows remote access?

NOT install MyBB on a MSSQL server.
All is done now mybb is working fine thanks gyes for your support.
