How do you edit the toplinks?
They're in the 'header' template.

Did you want to edit the text or the images??
The text is in the language files (inc/language/global.lang.php). For example, if you want to edit the $lang->toplinks_search text, in the language file, search for: $l['toplinks_search'] and then edit the text in the quotation marks after that.
If you're going to have only 1 language on your board, you could save some time and just replace $lang->toplinks_search with your own text in the templates.
