Hello,

I want to display the last post made within a thread in the thread index page. I see I can use {$thread['subject']} for the title of the thread but I want to show the first say 50 characters of the last post as well.

Can someone tell me how I can do that?

Not without a plugin. There is no plugin yet so you've to request.
