Hi, I've got a new install of Mybb but found it strange that their is no default way of having that the main page in the root directory with the forum. Does anyone know of a way to have this setup?

No Setup is an option of your forum on Admin CP Configuration.

In this place you can put the main url, but not page, you try to put some index on html with redirection at your portal. I think that is you want.

Is their no straight way of just having the portal as the default root page?

OR you can simply use DirectoryIndex portal.php index.php index.html in .htaccess
