How do i change it so it only shows 300 characters for a post in the portal... or 400 or 500 and so on

With this plugin http://mods.mybb.com/view/portal-announcement-cut-off.
Install it and under portal settings you will see :
Portal Announcement Cut Off and Characters (Number of characters before the announcement is).cut off

the link u gave be is broken... also i tried googling it and came to this one http://mods.mybb.com/view/portal-announcement-cutoff and its not capatible with 1.6

Open portalcutoff.php and on line 39 change compatibility to 16*

Quote:"compatibility" => "16*"

alright it works but it aint the best... is there a better kind because it doesnt include quotes in characters count
