I have been trying to get my first installation of MYBB going, and I have hit a brickwall.
The installation script insists I set the permissions for the uploads/avatar directory to 666. Unfortunately after trying to change the permissions a dozen times in ftp and not having it work, I deleted the uploads directory and re-uploaded it to the server. I went to set the permissions again and same problem.
Finally I went to File Manager and did the same thing, and still no go. 666, 777 neither seem to work. I get the non-writable message every time. The other files all check fine.
