How long with the 1.6.x brand be supported for? Just looking at it, if that is the case (and waiting for the 5.2.X to dropped) would that branch have an extended life?
I imagine it will get 6 months of support (at minimum but, probably a year) after 2.0 is released.
IMO: It just needs to be long enough for many plugins to be ported/written. But more than likely a year.

Plugins/themes are needed so that people will adopt 2.0.
I used to Yii and I think Yii = easy and cool. But In my opnion, Smarty is faster than Twig and have more performain. (with 1 template, code with Smarty = 3 MB but Twig = 4 MB :|) Using Yii = reuse more anything in Yii

Some tests say Twig is faster, other tests say Smarty is faster... But there is not much difference.

I did find Smarty was faster with Yii than Twig.

MyBB 1.x will be supported for at least a year after 2.0's general release.
So from what I understand, also after 2.0 is out, major plugins would need a rewrite?
Every plugin will need to be rewritten as there is no ./inc/plugins directory and they'll need to follow the MVC nature of 2.0.
Is it so necessary to be dependent upon some framework? Like I don't know if other forum software using framework as I never worked in deep with them, does vB, SMF or IPB currently or plan to use any framework in future? If not, why or what it might make MyBB unique?

There might be lot of chaos in the framework system, however it maybe beneficiary but the benefits would be a bit unclear.
