All the plugins on my forum were disabled completely, is this normal? I had to reactivate all of them separately which created a new setting for each plugin, now I have 2 sets of settings for about 15 plugins which are duplicates.

They're not going to deactivate themselves, somebody would have done it. Either that or you've done something to the cached list of activated plugins.
