I just bought 4GB RAM for my PC. When I put the RAM it just loads the desktop and restarts. My OS is 64bit Windows 7.
I don't get what is the problem...
Any advice?

Make sure its properly connected to the slot of Mother Board. Because I had one similar issue connecting RAM.
It is properly connected.. When I see the System Information from Bios, it says 4096 RAM which means 4GB RAM.
Ok now I made the OS 4 GB RAM but it says 3 GB Usable. How to fix it?
Are you using the video feed off the motherboard?
If so, it's "possible" that about 1GB would be used as your GPU memory.
Also, are you sure your OS is 64bit and not 32? Because 32bit windows often shows 3 GB usable on a 32 bit system.

I think that's just XP.
It should be at 4GB with 7, but a friend of mine had the same problem even after she changed over to 64bit.
It was just because she was using the internal GPU, thus it used some RAM as GPU memory.
Solution? Buy more RAM or a dedicated GPU card.

But ARE you using the built-in GPU, that still hasn't been answered.
No I am not using the built-in GPU.
What's your computer's brand/model?
If it's custom built, what's the brand/model of the motherboard?
