This plugin allows you to hellban users.

Hellbanning is a simple concept: A hellbanned user's posts and threads are hidden from everyone but himself (and staff) making it seem that they are participating in the community normally but no one is responding to them. Once the user realizes that no one is responding to his posts and is giving him the silent treatment, he will most likely get frustrated and leave.

A notice is on all hellbanned user's posts and threads for staff to see that the user is hellbanned.

You must create a new usergroup for hellbanned users, and then put the GID in the Hellban Settings.

Activate:

Extract and upload hellban.php to ./inc/plugins
ACP>Configuration>Plugins>Hellban>Activate
ACP>Configuration>Settings>Hellban Settings
Enter Usergroup ID into setting field (not name)
Save
Done!

Disable:
Change the gid setting in the ACP to "x" (no quotes)

The thing is, they don't know they've been hellbanned. From their POV it just seems that everyone is ignoring them.

Exactly my point. If I were to think everyone hated me and will not respond to anything I post. I'd make a new account and hide behind that identity.

Well, you could do that with a normal ban too.

Obviously, it's not perfect, but it was requested somewhere.

Obviously they are someone different since they work off reputation. I can see all of them being useful on certain forums

It hides all the posts or just those that were written after the hellban? If it hides all previous posts it's not very convenient because we can lose good content and other members will notice the disappearance of all posts of a user.
