MyBB Community Forums

There's a "1 click" install of MyBB through cPanel. And then there's the long install as described in the Wiki.

The long way looks daunting (to me), with an array of potential time consuming mis-steps.

The short way was quick when I set it up once, but removed as that forum was no longer needed.

Basic pros and cons of each?

I have a new forum to set up, and I'm trying to decide which way to go. Thanks

Doesn't matter, going trough Softaculous is just faster, as everything is automated. I would go with Softaculous as it is faster, and you don't need to upload MyBB.

I only trust manual install with the latest MyBB download

With a long install you get a bit more customization, with a short install however, the DB, DB user and everything is auto set up instead of having to do it through cPanel

Really the full install is very simple. Lots of beginners succeed, with reference to the wiki.
