I am setting up a new MyBB 1.6.5 installation and am confused by how to setup forum permissions. I have multiple forums and want to be very specific about which groups are allowed to view which forums.
I have created a 'base forum' which won't be viewable and deselected all permissions on it. All dragable permission bars (e.g. 'View') are on the right side (Disallowed) and all check boxes are unticked in 'Edit permissions'.
I then copy that base forum to my real forum. For the group I want to allow access to that forum I then drag all the permission bars across to 'Allowed'. However, I am surprised that if I then click 'Edit Permission' I find that 'Can view forum' is ticked but 'Can view threads in forum' is unticked.
How do the permissions bars and the check boxes interact? Do they not directly reflect each other?
Am I going about this all wrong?
