I set up a mybb forum on a subdomain and I am trying to import my main site's databse to the subforum

I created a new database for the subdomain, I followed the directions in the wiki, went to phpmyadmin, etc etc. and imported my old domain into the new one

I followed the directions for config.php and settings.php

so when i point the forum to that new database it gives me this error

MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.

SQL Error:
0 -
Query:
[READ] Unable to select database


But if i change the new datase to my old sites database...it loads the subdomain up fine. But for some reason it will not load up the subdomain with the new database.

i am going to suggest that the database names are not correct did you enter the details exactly as they are written?

of course it will work if you use your old databse settings (as long as you have not deleted the old database) check your database name is correct in the settings.

This is usually because the config file details are wrong.
