That's odd. Anyone else having anything similar, or is my Firefox just messed up?

It's a ZIP file but the MIME seems to be BMP so Firefox outputs it as an image. You can force a download to your desktop and open it as a ZIP.
I just don't know how MyBB messed it up (or perhaps frostschutz faked the MIME type).

MyBB messed it up by letting me fake the mime type.

It just uses whatever type the client used when uploading.

Since MyBB only allows specific extensions maybe it should just use the mime type that's normally used for that extension. A mime type provided by the client is just unreliable, even if you ignore people who fake it on purpose, there are just buggy clients around...

Yes that's probably the best solution. I'm posting a new issue on Redmine.
