I wanted to ask you experts what the best settings were for photo attachments to speed up the forums and to save disk space, so here we go!

What is the best way to configure management of photos in MyBB?

It's really up to you and how much disk space you have available.

Thumbnail generation takes up more disk space as a separate thumbnail image is also generated.

How are they stored, in a directory in MyBB?

Yes, they are stored in /uploads.
