Hi folks, not sure if this in the right place, but thought I would share this with you.

I have had a problem lately with people joining and posting on average 5 posts then you don't see them for a while. when they return in a few weeks time they go back to their old posts and add spam links via the edit button.

I have tried the "Edit History Log" plugin but just couldn't get it to work. anyway after a lot of trying different ways without checking each post, I came up with a simple solution and found myself 2 more edited old posts I had missed.

All you need do is go to Google and search for
site:Your site here without http or www This post was last modified

And up pops all your edited posts.

Hope it helps.

Edit: just found out you can also check by date for example to find all edits in January put site:yoursite-http/www This post was last modified 01-2012

Edit2: Oops maybe you should dump this thread, I've just found out I can disallow editing a post after a certain time.

You can combine this setting (it is group-specific) wit user group promotions. So that e.g. Users in the "registered" group can edit their posts only within a couple of minutes, normal users with 0 to 10 posts can only edit them within 12 hours, and "reliable users" with 10+ posts can edit them for 3 days or what ever you wish.

Thanks for that, but could you be more specific on how I would put this in place. I can't find the option in User Groups.

Thanks.

You can't go into the depth suggested by linguist, not without a plugin anyway. You can use group promotions to move members into a group where they're allowed to edit their posts after they hit certain requirements (post count, reputation, etc.), see this thread for more detail - http://community.mybb.com/thread-92069.html
Thank You.
