Since mybb 2.0 will be more advanced and have soo many features, it would be nice to have an in-built downloads system and a Gallery

The many features will be heavily focussed on what we believe is necessary, and helpful, to the vast majority of MyBB admins.

I don't believe that a downloads system and gallery falls into this category, personally. They may be useful to a bunch of boards, but I don't feel it is popular enough to warrant us making it in the MyBB package by default. Don't forget, plugins are always an option.

That said, we (the team) have agreed to add features that the team doesn't exactly see eye-to-eye on, but because they were some of the more popular requested features, we will include them.

well yeah, even i imagined them as plugins (or we can say optional features)
Coz people usually find themselves in middle of nowhere as there is no good download/shop/gallery system out there for mybb. And if the mybb team develops the plugins, they will be seamlessly tied up with mybb

that's what i'm saying. they are not so good. And myDownloads is a paid one.

I find it odd that you run a paid theme site but don't really want to pay for a plugin. Moving on though.

MyDownloads is a really nice downloads manager. And, there is bridge for coppermine gallery (assuming they have been keeping it updated).

I didn't mean about me. I was talking in general....for other people lol
and bridging is always a bad idea coz it invloves two login and template systems.
about mydownloads, I think its pretty basic. I have it and I'm not too happy with it....

What do you want it to do? I mean it supports rating, comments, newpoints/paypal, and categories.

I mean if you want something that does everything you want a CMS like drupal.(it usually means everything is basic though because it tries to accomplish so much.)

My downloads system is built on XThreads. I think it is pretty ok.Take a look. Having an XThreads like option in MYBB 2.0 would be very cool, but that is heading towards a CMS rather than a bulletin board.

First when i read your post i wondered how is My downloads (by Pirata) is built on Xthreads.
