Hi guys, sorry if the title is a bit vague or if I am posting in the wrong section!
I currently run a family-friendly forum but due to the average age of our members, I am very careful about allowing certain topics. For example, recently two topics were started: one about World War 2 (it then led to an argument about the influence the Americans had in the Allied victory), and another about the current Israel and Palestinian conflict (it then led to arguments against Israel).
If it weren't for the fact that my forum is meant to have such a wide appeal (we're a Zoo Tycoon fansite forum), I wouldn't have closed anything. However, I don't want anyone to be insulted with controversial debates, moreso when the average member doesn't have the maturity to handle these topics.
If anyone has a family-friendly forum here with a similar appeal, how do/would you handle these type of situations? Should I allow it but keep a close watch instead of being too 'heavy-fisted'?
