A 'Like' 'Reputation' 'Kudos' or however you want to call it system that uses AJAX like Xenforo or IPB have....... which should display in the post something like
X ,W ,A liked this post. and of course this would points add to the user.
The current reputation system while works is very unpractical to use as it is.

Yes, I'm acutually using this mod-

The reputation pop-up has no place in 2012-13 when there are so many modern technologies that you can use.
I usually try to avoid installing plugins as they have a negative impact on the scripts and sever , I'm sure if you do it as a built-in feature it would be better coded and integrated.
Also please take into account the SEO factor - ds. Human-readable URLs, semantic HTML with embedded microdata, ... I'm a few steps away on moving to Xenforo just for this reason......
Also IPB has been working very hard on SEO on its 3.3 version so .... it's a must.
I understand that people want their favourite plugins as core features, however it's not always in MyBB's best interest to do so for everyone. Adding features that the vast majority may not use means that we've invested time in coding, testing and tweaking a feature that is going to get dusty on most boards.
It may also mean a larger file size and slightly lower performance (more fields in the database require slightly more memory, storage space, etc.) as well as extra code to be executed.
We feel that leaving some things as plugins is easier for everyone because of this.
Thinking about it now though, a rework of it may be more useful, so it can be adapted to be used as a like/thank you/reputation at the discretion of the admin. Not exactly sure how, but if we wanted to incorporate the 'like' idea, that's probably the only way I'd see it done.
That's just me personally though.
