I want to show a specific number of threads from a specific forum in a side box with no plugin, only coding.

Do I have to use php or is there some other way?

Do I create a file called something.php and call it somewhere in my templates?

Remember no plugins please.

Why would you not want to use a plugin? It's a lot easier and cleaner.

Nope I want straight coding.

I want to be able to quickly just go to my template code and change the forum id so the code will pull threads from a different forum if I wanted to.
