it would be a nice feature if the smilies preview box instead of showing the first (however many you select for the preview box) that it would show the most used up to (whatever number you select for the preview box)

so for instance instead of having

Smilies
1    2   3   4    5
6    7   8   9   10
11  12  13  14  15
[get more]

have the most used in order of used

Smilies
:)  :p  :(  etc..
[get more]

i like the display order but i think for the preview box it should be in order of most used then when you click on [get more] the display order kicks in

what do you guys think?

Currently there's no way to track how popular each smilie is, and it would probably add a bit of server load in one way or another if you want to track that. Why not just have the ones you think are popular (you're most likely correct even if you guess) on the first few numbers of the display order?
